The Burns station is located at the Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center.

In July 2019, an automatic tracker was installed at the station. The automatic tracker allows for a measurement of the diffuse irradiance using a shadeball. From the measured diffuse and direct values, an accurate global irradiance value can be calculated.
